Multi-strand Necklaces: The Bib Necklace

Multi-row or multi-strand pearl necklaces or bead necklaces are a striking accessory.

The bib necklace is a type of multi-strand necklace. In the bib necklace, the strands are graduated to create a smooth row of pearls or beads, or a combination of pearls and beads. Depending on the size of the beads or pearls, and the number of rows, the bib may range in size and may cover an expanse as large as 5". Often a focal point of the bib is an eye-catching clasp which may double as a frontpiece.

Depending on the bead size, bib necklaces look best directly on the skin, or on smooth light fabric which neither competes with the necklace nor hampers it from lying flat.
